{"id":1449,"date":"2019-08-25T00:25:11","date_gmt":"2019-08-25T00:25:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/afribary.com\/blog\/?p=1449"},"modified":"2022-09-26T18:45:48","modified_gmt":"2022-09-26T18:45:48","slug":"commonwealth-professional-fellowships-for-commonwealth-countries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/afribary.com\/blog\/1449\/commonwealth-professional-fellowships-for-commonwealth-countries\/","title":{"rendered":"Commonwealth Professional Fellowships for Commonwealth Countries"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Commonwealth Professional Fellowships are for mid-career professionals from low and middle income Commonwealth countries to spend between six weeks and three months at a UK Host organisation working in their sector on a programme of professional development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID), Commonwealth Professional Fellowships provide talented and motivated professionals with the opportunity to enhance knowledge and skills in their given sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These Fellowships are offered under six development themes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1.Science and technology for development<br>\n2.Strengthening health systems and capacity<br>\n3.Promoting global prosperity<br>\n4.Strengthening global peace, security and governance<br>\n5.Strengthening resilience and response to crises<br>\n6.Access, inclusion and opportunity<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Purpose:<\/strong>&nbsp;To provide professionals with the opportunity to enhance knowledge and skills in their given sector, and to have catalytic effects on their workplaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Intended&nbsp; beneficiaries:<\/strong>&nbsp;Mid-career&nbsp; professionals&nbsp; (with&nbsp; five&nbsp; years\u2019&nbsp; relevant&nbsp; work&nbsp; experience)&nbsp; working&nbsp; in development-related organisations in low and middle income Commonwealth countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The CSC aims to identify talented individuals who have the potential to make change. For further information on the support available to candidates with a disability, please visit the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/cscuk.dfid.gov.uk\/apply\/csc-disability-support-statement\">CSC disability support statement<\/a>&nbsp;available on the CSC website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The CSC is committed to administering and managing its scholarships and fellowships in a fair and transparent manner \u2013 for more information, see the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/csc-in-the-uk-anti-fraud-policy-and-procedure\">CSC anti-fraud policy<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To be eligible for these fellowships, you must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person<\/li><li>Be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country<\/li><li>Have at least five years\u2019 full-time, or equivalent part-time, relevant work experience, in a profession related to the subject of the Fellowships programme, by the proposed start of the fellowship \u2013 voluntary work experience will not be counted towards this minimum<\/li><li>Be in employment at the time of application that they will return to upon completion of the fellowship<\/li><li>Not have undertaken a Commonwealth Professional Fellowship within the last five years (at the time of application)<\/li><li>Not be seeking to undertake an academic programme of research or study in the UK. Academics are eligible to apply for the scheme, but only to undertake programmes of academic management, not research or courses relevant to their research subject<\/li><li>Be available to undertake the Fellowship&nbsp;<strong>between 10 February 2020 and 16 March 2020<\/strong>. Your application must include at least two references by this date, one of which must be from your current employer, otherwise it will be considered ineligible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the closing date for Fellows\u2019 applications and references has passed your application will be shared with the Host organisation you have applied to in order for them to review all applications and nominate the candidates they wish to put forward to the Commission.
