About The Scholarship<\/strong><\/p>\n

Actress Nicole Kidman is proud to establish, with King\u2019s College London, the\u00a0\u2018Dr Antony Kidman Scholarship in Health Psychology\u2019\u00a0in honour of her late father Dr Antony Kidman. \u00a0The scholarship will be awarded to one student each year undertaking a\u00a0Master\u2019s degree in Health Psychology. Considered a prestigious award, it will be given to exceptional students in financial hardship to support them with their studies at King\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Dr Kidman was an Australian psychologist, biochemist and writer. He was a faculty member of the University of Technology, Sydney for more than 43 years until his death in September 2014. Dr Kidman established the Health Psychology Unit at the University of Technology in 1985 and was the Director until his death. In 2005, Dr Kidman was made a Member of the Order of Australia for his contribution to clinical psychology. His academic achievements include 154 journal articles and nine books as well as regular presentations at conferences internationally.<\/p>\n

The Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at King\u2019s (IoPPN) is Europe\u2019s largest centre for research and post-graduate education in psychiatry, psychology and basic and clinical neuroscience. It is world renowned for the quality of its research and\u00a0is the most cited research centre in the world\u00a0in the fields of psychiatry and psychology, having recently surpassed Harvard in research rankings. The Department of Psychology at the IoPPN has grown to become one of the world\u2019s largest groupings of psychologists undertaking research and education in the areas of clinical and health psychology, neuropsychology and neuroscience and developmental psychology. In 2014, the UK government judged the impact of King\u2019s work in psychology to be \u2018100% world leading\u2019 or \u2018internationally excellent\u2019 and our research environment was judged as \u2018100% world leading\u2019.<\/p>\n

Dr Kidman\u2019s contribution to the field of Health Psychology was significant and the\u00a0Dr Antony Kidman Scholarship in Health Psychology\u00a0in the Department of Health Psychology at King\u2019s College London will not only support this important work, but create a legacy to honor the work of Dr Kidman.<\/p>\n

The scholarship will be worth \u00a310,770, available as either a cash bursary or a contribution towards tuition fees.<\/p>\n
