Physics concepts have played a significant role in the development of technology, industries and social development. There are exciting and productive careers emanating from good understanding and application of physics principles, concepts and science process skills learned in physics education. In Kenyan secondary schools, one is allowed to sit for at least two sciences at the Kenyan Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations. Students are allowed to choose any two science subje...

EFFECT OF FREQUENT TESTING ON STUDENTS’PERFORMANCE IN SOME SELECTED PHYSICS CONCEPTS

ABSTRACT This study was designed to determine the effect of frequent testing on students’ performance in some selected physics concepts at Accra Girls’ Senior High School. The purpose of this research study was used to determine the effect of frequent testing on the performance of students in some selected physics concepts as well as perception of students about frequent testing. The research design used was an action research. The participants were form two science students of Accra Gir...

THE IMPACT OF ICT IN THE CONDUCT OF ELECTIONS IN NIGERIA

There is no gainsaying that technology has drastically reduced incidences of electoral malpractices such as: ballot stuffing, result sheet mutilation, manipulations, over voting, alteration of result sheets and hijacking of ballot boxes in the history of Nigeria elections. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has employed a number of innovative approaches to improve the management and conduct of elections in the country. As years pass by, INEC gets more sophisticated with it...

CAUSES OF EXAMINATION MALPRACTICE IN PHYSICS IN SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL CERTIFICATE EXAMINATION

ABSTRACT This study investigates’ the Causes of Examination Malpractice in Physics in Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination in Oshimili South Local Government Area, Delta State. Five Secondary Schools in Oshimili South Local Government Area were selected for the study. The population of the study comprised students. Four research questions were formulated for the study. A sample of two hundred respondents was used using stratified random sampling technique. Data collected was ana...

SCIENTIFIC REVIEW ON THEORY AND MECHANISM OF NEUTRON ACTIVATION ANALYSIS IN GEOLOGICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL SAMPLES

ABSTRACT This study described the theory and mechanism for the simultaneous determination of major, minor and trace elements involved in Neutron Activation Analysis, applied to geological and environmental samples as a sensitive and non−destructive tool. Using Neutron Source, the gamma−rays emitted due to neutron capture have been applied for the investigation of the elemental constituents and concentrations of major, minor and trace elements in such samples. Neutron Activation Analysis ...

Gender Discrimination And Academic Achievement of Female Students In Some Selected Senior Secondary Schools In Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, Nigeria

Abstract- The purpose of the study was to find out the impact of gender discrimination on the academic achievement of female student; the study was carried out using five senior secondary schools in Karu LGA, Nasarawa State as case study ex-post facto research design was used for the study. Finding revealed that by overall performance, male students performed much better as compared to their female counterparts. Results shows, teacher’s negative attitudes and behaviors and, time wasting amo...

TEACHING MECHANICS WITH MIND MAPPING INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGY IN TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS IN EKITI STATE

ABSTRACT This study investigated teaching mechanics with mind mapping instructional strategy in Tertiary Institutions in Ekiti State. A research survey design was used for this study. Four research questions were raised for the study. Simple random sampling techniques was used to select forty (40) students from Physics Department in College of Education, Ikere Ekiti which made up the total sample size for the study. Simple mean and standard deviation was used to analyze data collected for...

Students’ Achievement and Low Enrolment in Physics: The Place of Physics Teachers and other Necessary Resources

The study investigated the influence of physics teachers and other necessary resources on students’ achievement and enrollment in senior secondary school Physics. The research design adopted for the study was meta-analysis. This involved collecting, aggregating and combining the results of comparable studies into a coherent account to establish the relationship between variables in the study. Four research questions were answered and findings revealed that there is inadequate number of qual...

Computation of the Earth's Gravity Anomalies of Southwestern Nigeria Using the Gravity Model Equation

This seminar report is meant to determine the Earth’s gravity anomalies of south-western Nigeria using the gravity model equation. This development has led to the formulation of rigorous mathematical analysis. The gravity anomalies data over the area of study are generated from a computer program written in MAT-LAB, which is then contoured to produce a 3-Dimensional anomaly maps.

NUCLEAR MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING (NMRI)

Abstract This paper investigates the physics concepts, basic principles, basic procedure, merit and demerit of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Imaging.  As a widely used medical technique, this type of imaging utilizes the inherent magnetic properties of protons in human cells.  Superconducting magnets are generally enclosed in a large housing unit to scan various parts of the body. Although there are no biological hazards yet associated with this technique, extreme caution must be taken when wo...
