Reference frame independent twin field quantum key distribution with source flaws

Abstract: The trade-off between distance and secret key generation rate remains one of the major challenges in the practical implementation of quantum key distribution (QKD). As a solution, a twin field QKD protocol was proposed by Lucamarini et al (2018) to address this challenge. In this protocol, the achievable secret key rate scales with the square root of channel transmittance and can surpass the secret key capacity for repeaterless QKD. However, the protocol exploits phase to encode in...

Synthesis and Characterization of Zinc Oxide Nanowire

ABSTRACT Zinc Oxide (ZnO) nanowires with hexagonal structure were successfully synthesized by chemical bath deposition technique. The obtained nanowires were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX) and spectrophotometer. The SEM micrographs revealed the morphology of ZnO nanowires with diameter between 170.3 and 481nm and showed that the pH of the bath solution, 8.1 is the optimized value to form ZnO nanowires with h...

A Linearized thermometer Circuit Employing a Thermistor and a Diode as Probing Elements

ABSTRACT The development of a linearized thermistor-based thermometer circuit with a thermistor and a diode as the temperature probing elements is here reported. The circuit is effectively that of an op amp based logarithmic amplifier, which takes its input from another inverting op amp circuit having a thermistor in its feedback loop. The performance of the circuit is demonstrated experimentally and has been found to have a linearity error of less than 0.2%. The accuracy analysis of the circ...

Uniform factor modeling with the Relativistic Stopping Power of Silicon-carbide Targeted Semiconductor Material against the sourced Energetic Radiation

Abstract: Ion irradiation is used to analyze and modify the structure of condensed matter. It can for instance be used to form and shape nanocrystals in solids as the understanding of the fundamental processes that take place in material under ion irradiation is important for all these applications of ion beams, and great interest from a basic science point of view. The mechanisms involved during  ion  irradiation-induced  displacement  of  atoms  in  uniform  bulk  solids  are  fa...

SYNTHESIS AND PROPERTIES OF COPPER NICKEL SELENIDE (CuNiSe) THIN FILM BY CHEMICAL BATH DEPOSITION METHOD.

Abstract: Thin films of Copper Nickel Selenide (CuNiSe) were synthesized on glass slides at room temperature using chemical bath deposition (CBD) method. The films were deposited from aqueous solution containing copper ion, nickel ion and potassium selenate (K2SeO4) at varying molar concentration of nickel ion with constant time and pH of the reaction bath. The optical absorption data reveals that films of CuNiSe absorbs strongly at the ultraviolet range of 300 nm and has above 60% transmit...

Design Analysis and Implementation of A 0.5 KVA Uninterruptible Power Stabilizer

This  paper  presents  design  analysis  and  implementation  of  a  0.5  KVA  uninterruptible  electronic power  stabilizer  (UPSz).  Poor  and  instability  of  power  supply  delivery  in  Nigeria  necessitated  the need  for  a  device  that  can  stabilize  voltage,  protect  equipment  from  damages  and  also  provide power  to  the  loads  in  the  absences  of  electricity  from  the  utility  mains.  This  need  motivated  the d...

Design and fabrication of a gas pressing iron

Various  hand  held  devices  have  been  invented  and produced  as  far  back  as  the  1st  century  B.C  to  smoothen  fabrics. Over  the  years,  irons  have  come  in  different  shapes,  sizes  and principle  of  operation.  Since  the  invention  of  electricity,  electric irons  have  dominated  the  iron  industry.  In  developing  countries, Erratic  and  epileptic  power  supply  owing  to  the  inability  of public  power  su...

Design and Construction of Permanent Magnet Generator

ABSTRACT  A drastic change in the perception of electric energy . But at the same time there is misreading of FREE ENERGY. Energy becomes free only at a point after which we don’t have to pay for power generation after hiring the unit. By using the magnetic force of magnets continuous motion (Energy) is made. This magnet also produces a magnetic field, so both the magnetic fields repel each other (like poles repel), which reasons the fins to move. The free Energy Generator was mounted in...

COMPARISON OF THREE STATISTICAL METHODS FOR ESTIMATING WEIBULL PARAMETERS FOR WIND ENERGY ANALYSIS

There is a crucial need in the mainland regions of Nigeria to enhance the development of wind technology and engineering, which is essential for the designing of Wind Energy Conversion Systems (WECS). The Weibull Probability Density Function (PDF) with two parameters is widely accepted and commonly utilized for modelling, characterizing and predicting wind resource and wind power, as well as assessing optimum performance of WECS. Therefore, it is paramount to precisely estimate the scale and ...

TOTAL ENERGY CALCULATION OF AlAs AND InAs BINARY SEMICONDUCTORS USING THE PROJECTOR AUGMENTED WAVE METHOD

The total energy of an element is the basic energy value from which other properties of the element can be calculated. Aluminum Arsenide (AlAs) and Indium Arsenide (InAs) are III – Arsenic binary semiconductors with indirect and direct energy band gap respectively. The total energy of each of them was calculated using the Projector Augmented Wave (PAW) method with the PBE-GGA for the exchange-correlation functional. The total energy were calculated and from the results gotten, the lattice c...

DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF A TWO-DIGIT DIGITAL COUNTER

ABSTRACT In this work, we designed and constructed a digital counter circuit. The initial design criteria for the project were: to have a two digit output, to have the circuit count from 0-99, to include either a 555 timer or manual counter. Research was conducted into similar analogue electronic circuits and a suitable point of a digital die was identified. The digital counter circuit was designed using BCD 4506 binary counters and 7-segment display outputs. The circuit was modeled using pro...

Recycling of water sachet

ABSTRACT Wastes generally render our environment unfriendly and the worst of them all are those wastes that are non-biodegradable and as such, wastes of these forms (non-biodegradable) pose a serious threat to our environment. One of these categories of non-biodegradable wastes is pure water sachets. They are found in virtually every part of Nigeria and various attempts have been made to biodegrade these pure water sachets. One of these attempts was carried out by Nwachukwu S.et al (2010) in...
