Preparation of an Emulsifier by Gum Arabic Solution and Black Cumin Seed Oil and Studying Its Optical Properties

The importance of this research comes from made a new material (Emulsion Definition) by used Gum Arabic and Black seed oil. The aim of this Research is Determine The optical properties of (Emulsion Definition) that made by used Gum Arabic Solution and black seed oil Such as (absorbance, transmission, reflection, absorption coefficient, extinction coefficient, refractive index and optical energy band gap) and to compare the result with pure gum Arabic solution result. In this research F...

The effects of Cs-137 gamma photons on the electrical characteristics of Silicon diode 1N4007

In this thesis, experimental measurements were carried out to determine the radiation induced effect on the electrical properties of silicon based diode type 1N4007. The gamma ray photons of Cs-137 source were used to irradiate the diode under test. The results in terms of IV characteristics were compared for post and pre irradiated diode. It is found that the forward current has increased with respect to operating voltage (0.7V) by about 42%. Furthermore, the possibility of using cemen...

Analysis Of The Geothermal Potential Of The North West Olkaria Prospect (Oserian Sanctuary) In Kenya, Using Transient Electromagnetic Method And Magnetotelluric Method

ABSTRACT The Northwest Olkaria prospect, Oserian Sanctuary, is part of the Greater Olkaria Geothermal Area located within the Kenyan rift valley in Nakuru County. It is bounded by the longitudes 360 15′E and 360 12′E with an estimated area of 30 km2. Studies previously done did not adequately cover the area to the North West hence no geophysical data is available on the resistivity of key concealed geothermal structural features like thin massive heat sources and shallow faults based on s...

Effect Of Ultraviolet-A And Ultraviolet-C Light On The Concentration Of Vitamin D2 And Mechanical Properties Of Oyster Mushrooms During Growth

ABSTRACT The sun emits ultraviolet radiation in the form of ultraviolet-A (UV-A), ultraviolet-B (UV-B), and ultraviolet-C (UV-C) bands. Ultraviolet light has the potential to boost vitamin D2 production in mushrooms which are the only non-animal food source of vitamin D for humans. The ergosterol in mushrooms, a component of fungal cell membranes which serves the same function as cholesterol in animal cells, can be converted into vitamin D2 by exposure to controlled UV light. However, mushroo...

Radiation Dose Audit Of Common X-Ray Diagnostic Procedures Of Patients And Implications For Cancer Incidence In Southwestern Nigeria

ABSTRACT One of the objectives of x-ray examination is high quality images; however administered radiation doses may be harmful to patients‟ health. Data on radiation dose to patients are scarce, and thus hinder the determination of local and national reference dose levels specific to a country owing to the differences in patient anatomy and radiological practice among nationals of different countries. This study was therefore, designed to determine the patient doses, local reference dose ...

Proposed Service Providers’ Directory using Unstructured Supplementary Service Data [USSD] application platform

Abstract The source of contact details of public and private organizations used to be the telephone directory. The telephone directory would contain the physical location of the organization as well as the telephone number. With the advent of the mobile phones whose use has grown exponentially, the fixed network market share has declined drastically. And so is availability of the telephone directory. This proposal is to develop a service provider’s directory accessed by mobile phone using t...

An Automated Room Temperature Controller

ABSTRACT This project work presents the design of an automated room temperature controller system. This system allows the user to set a desired temperature which is then compared to the room temperature measured by DHT11 temperature sensor. With the help of Atmega 328 based on Arduino microcontroller, the system responds by turning ON and OFF the two (2) loads (fan or a heater) automatically depending on the temperature difference in the room. The fan is triggered ON when the room temperature...

Effect Of Combustible Material And Force On Porosity Of Ceramic Membrane

ABSTRACT Ceramics are inorganic, nonmetallic solids and crystalline amorphous materials whose molecules are held together by covalent bond and /or ionic bonds. They are usually; hard, brittle, stable to high temperatures, less dense than metals, more elastic and have very high melting points. Ceramics are mostly made from clay soil. Ceramic water filtration involves the use of a porous ceramic (annealed clay) medium to filter microbes and other contaminants from water. The ceramic water filte...

Statistical Thermodynamics Of High Tctwo Band Superconductivity In Mgb2.

ABSTRACT Thermodynamic properties of the multiband high critical temperature superconductors have been describedpreviously with simple standard BCS expressions corresponding to and bands, but the microscopic mechanisms that allow superconductivity to persist at high temperatures remain unknown. Studies on two band superconductors have previously been described through one band model; this approach has not adequately addressed cases of inter-band scattering for superconductors at high temperat...

Natural Radioactivity Levels In Rocks And Sand From Tyaa River In Mwingi, Kitui County

ABSTRACT The variability of background radiation from primordial radionuclides has led to the exposure of human beings to radiation doses of different ranges. Prompt or delayed harmful effects as a result of radiation exposure have been reported in areas with enhanced levels of radioactivity. The residents of Kitui County near Tyaa River and the surrounding regions heavily mine sand and rocks from its riverine for construction purposes despite the scanty information on the potential harm in c...

Simulation Of Gravimetric Capacity, Structural And Electronic Properties Of Vanadium Disulphide As Anode Material For Lithium-Ion Bettery

ABSTRACT Various energy sources are utilized at present with a challenge of energy storage in many cases. The existing rechargeable storage batteries which include sodium-ion and lithium-ion have some limitations in their gravimetric capacities. This can be improved by incorporating Vanadium disulphide (VS2) due to its metallic properties at ground state. In this work we investigate the adsorption of lithium ions on the VS2 layered material. Research shows that intercalating lithium ions on a...

Investigation Of Matisaa Gray Rock As A Potential Raw Material For The Manufacture Of Cement

ABSTRACT Owing to the depletion rates of coastal limestone, the characterization of cementitious materials occurring on the dry land is important in order to assess their potential as alternative materials for the manufacture of cement. In this study, a naturally occurring terrestrial rock herein referred to as “Matisaa gray rock” has been studied to determine its potential for the manufacture of cement. Matisaa gray rock is found in Matisaa village, Kitui County, Kenya, and it covers an ...

Perceived Influence Of Participation In Non-Formal Curricular Activities On Secondary School Students’ Perception And Achievement In Physics In Vihiga County Of Kenya

ABSTRACT The school curriculum consists of formal, informal and non-formal dimensions. Formal dimension refers to official timetabled subjects such as Physics. Informal dimension is the school environment that influences a learner’s behaviour. Non-formal dimension refers to out of class activities such as field trips and science club activities. The common assumption is that participation in non-formal activities enhances perception and achievement in the formal curriculum. However, seconda...

Perspectives On Relevance Of Physics Teacher Education Programmes In Relation To Pedagogic Skills Of Student Teachers In Public Universities In Kenya

ABSTRACT Public Universities in Kenya are key players in the training of physics teachers through the Bachelor of Education (Science) programme. However, the training is in need of reforms due to changes in content, educational media and technology in teaching of secondary school physics. Reviews of the programme in public universities have focused on content with little attention to methodology. Further, there is lack of coordination in key areas of training among the universities yet; secon...
