About The Scholarship
Our Master of Science in Biotechnology will provide you with highly marketable skills and qualifications to work in the biotechnology industry and the academic foundation to pursue further medical and professional studies. You will receive a hands-on, laboratory based program taught by world-class National Institutes of Health (NIH)- funded biomedical research faculty at an affordable cost.
You’re invited to work alongside UTHSCT’s research and teaching faculty as they conduct nationally recognized and funded research in groundbreaking significant fields. Our two-year thesis program will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of biochemistry, molecular biology, and cell biology on the campus of a University of Texas academic medical center. You will be part of a personalized, team-based learning experience that is atypical of larger graduate programs and universities. Your research findings can be published in peer-reviewed, first-class science journals.
Requirements
Students must complete the graduate program application.
Applicants must submit official transcripts from all universities and colleges attended, including community colleges that lead to their baccalaureate degree, to the program office.
While an overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale is the minimum requirement, it is recommended that applicants maintain a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and a 3.0 in their field of study. If an applicant does not meet the minimum GPA requirements, it is possible to be admitted on a probationary status. You should contact the program advisor to see if GRE scores and/or a combination of other factors might meet the requirements for admission.
General revised GRE scores should be a minimum of 295 (combined verbal and quantitative), with no less than a 150 on the verbal section and no less than 145 on quantitative section. Sign up to take the GRE or request an official copy.

Complete and submit the graduate program application at least 30 days prior to entering the program. UT Health Science Center accepts credit or recognizes degrees only from institutions accredited by one of the regional accrediting bodies.

- CV/Resume.
- Official Transcript(s).
- TOEFL English Proficiency Exam (international applicants).
A $25 application fee is to be included with the application materials. A fee of $50 must accompany the application of all foreign applicants, except those under university-sponsored exchange programs.
