Measurements Of The Optic Nerve Diameter In Diabetic Patients Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Abstract

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a spectroscopic imaging technique used in medical to produce images of the human body. MRI is one of the safety diagnostic procedures for measurement of the optic nerve diameter. The objective of this study is to measure the effectiveness of magnetic resonance imaging to measure the optic nerve affected by Diabetes. A total of 50 diabetic and control patients [30 (60%) diabetic patients, 20 (40%) control group]. The mean and range of patient age was 57.5 (30-85) years old. The study found that in a comparison between males and females in the measurement of the optic nerve was insignificant (diabetes has no effect on gender). But when we compare between types of diabetic found that also imaging insignificant results. Whereas, comparison between diabetic patients and control group there was a significant different in measurements of the optic nerve. The patient age affect the optic nerve diameter in length and widths. The gender has no effect on the optic nerve diameter in diabetic patient. This study was conducted in Daralelaj Specialized Hospital in the period from February 2018 to May 2018.
