A legal analysis on sexual violence and access to justice for minors and persons with disabilities in Uganda.

ABSTRACT

The study's mam objective was to critically analyze access to justice m relation to sexual violence law in Uganda and the specific objectives were to; I. To analyze the existing Jaws in relation to defi Jement in Uganda. 2. To lind out legal and policy frame work on Access to justice and sexual violence on minors and persons with disabilities. The study was done in Uganda in the districts of Kampala and Kitgum in Notihern Uganda and the respondents were sampled li·om police, parents non-governmental organizations and Jaw makers overall a sample size of thirty was reached and data was gathered about the topic. This report is organized into five chapters, chapter one covered introduction and background information, contains a brief over view of sexual violence and access to justice with a critical analysis ofthe Jaw in Uganda. The study objectives, significance of the study, justification ofthe study, statement of the problem and research questions are all noted in this chapter. Chapter two brings out the related literature reviewed; chapter three explains the methodology that was used. Chapter four states the lindings presented analyzed and discussed according to each study objective and finally chapter live presents the summary of the lessons learnt from the study, conclusions, recommendation and areas of further study. The study revealed that the Ugandan Jaw on sexual violence seems sufficient in protecting persons with disabilities and minors but they have gaps in them because most of the cases are no prosecuted hence government needs to increase sensitization and put the laws to strict adherence by stake holders.
