CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION OF THE STUDY 1.0 Introduction Trade unions are legal organizations that consist of group of workers who have bonded together to bar gain with employers on behalf ofworkers 1 The primary role of trade unions is to fight the better rights, better working conditions, wage hours, benefits for workers as enshrined in the constitution of the Republic ofUganda2 in atticle 40 It mediated many aspects of the relationship between trade unions employers and employees .there are two broad categories of labour law, collective labour law related to the tripartite relationship[ between employees, employers and the unions, individual labour law concerns employees rights3 at work and through the contract for work The labour union has been instrumental in enacting the labour laws, protecting labour rights in the 19 and 20 centuries workers rights have been integral to the social and economic development since the industrial revolutions Employment standard are social norms for the minimum socially acceptable conditions under which employees will work. Government agencies enforce employment standards codified by labour law
