Analysis of Teacher's Perception on Education of Learners with Special Needs in Saki West, Oyo State

This study was geared toward analyzing the perception of teachers in Saki West local government area , Oyo State, on the effectiveness of education of learners with special needs. The study adopted a descriptive research design, in which a self-designed questionnaire called Perception on Effective Education for Learners with Special Needs Questionnaire (PEELSNQ) was used to elicit information regarding the subject matter (the perception of teachers in Saki West local government area , Oyo State, on the effectiveness of education of learners with special needs.) Random sampling technique was used for the selection of 120 participants ( 6 teachers each ) from 10  private schools and 10  public schools in the local government. The result indicated there exist no effective education for learners with special needs owning to lack of qualified personnel, necessary facilities, lack of awareness on special needs education among others. It is however recommended that teachers’ training and retraining via academic upgrading, seminars, workshops, conferences etc., provisions of necessary infrastructures and facilities required for effective education for learners with special needs.
