Challenges Of International Human Rights Institutions Over Child Labour: A Case Of Dar-Essalaam

ABSTRACT

This study assessed the challenges of International Human Rights Institutions over Child labour in Dar es Salaam. The study specifically, aimed at identifying the strategies of the international human rights institutions over child labour, to examine the effectiveness of international human rights Institutions dealing with child labour, to uncover the challenges facing International human right institution over child labour and to propose the measures to insure the reducing of child labour activities in Tanzania. Sample size of 99 respondents was employed whereby probability and non probability sampling were used, however, interview and questionnaire used as method and tools for data collection. Also descriptive statistics were used to analyze information by frequencies and percentages whereby presentations of qualitative data followed the research objectives based on the themes. The study finds that the increasing of poverty, single family, early marriage, orphaning, lack of knowledge to poor parents, non cooperative strategies and poor cooperation among stakeholders of International Human rights institutions and government, International laws which guide child rights under the United Nation and poverty is the major challenge which lead to poor implementation of International Human right institutions in Dar es Salaam to overcome the problem of child labour. The study recommends that in order to improve eradication of child labour in Dar es Salaam there must be an active participation of all stakeholders‟ strategies especial parents and their children, the link of International Human Rights Institutions like ILO, UNICEF and the government in order to eradicate poverty. In addition, recommended are formulation of policies and laws for child rights and also the implementation of the international laws which guide the child rights.
