Civil Wars and Socio-Economic Status of Internal Displaced People in Mogadishu. Somalia

ABSTRACT The study entitled “civil wars and socio-economic status of internal displaced people in Mogadishu Somalia” the study was carried out among IDPs in Mogadishu. The purpose of the study aims at getting the solution to the main research problem. This research report was guided by three specific objectives; to assess the capacity of Somali leaders in contributing to the interruption of the country, especially Mogadishu, to investigate the consequences of civil wars on IDP5 in terms of social, economical and political values of life, to find out the obstructions in implementing services by the humanitarian organizations for the IDPs in Mogadishu Somalia. The study employed cross sectional survey design, the research instruments consisted of questionnaires and interview that the researcher used as a tool to collect data from 124 respondents. The sample techniques of the study were purposive sampling and simple random sampling. Both qualitative and quantitative instruments of data were combined for analysis. The finding of this study is majority that Somali warlords, Somali in Diasporas, businessmen and community members contribute substantially to the conflict in Somalia. It’s therefore recommended that the government of Somali should arrange or get ready for general reconciliation in order to attain peace and stability in the whole country. Conclusively, there is need for all involved in the conflict to come into peaceful agreement in order to promote durable peace, so that the IDPs may return home to lead humane life.
