Creative Special Education and the Development of Sub-Saharan Africa

The paper tries to make a case for creative special education as well as the benefits inherent therein towards the development of sub-Saharan Africa. Creative special education could be described as that form of special education in which the teaching- learning process are geared towards ensuring that students with special needs become independent and contributing members of society by inculcating in them the spirit of critical thinking ( creativity) for the purpose of development. Sub Saharan African countries are those countries in the African continent which consist of Eastern, Southern, Western and some parts of the north of the entire continent. Majority of the countries in this part of the world lack the wherewithal in terms of sound educational systems that will actually bring the needed development. However , so as to keep pace with other countries of the world in terms of taking care of those with special needs educationally to guarantee development in the long run in the region ( sub-Saharan Africa) , it becomes highly imperative to ensure that the governments and other education providers in the zone provide the kind of special education that will provide the needed results.
