Philosophy of the Department

The departmental philosophy is in line with the national philosophy of Nigerian educational information technological aspirations, as it is in line with the establishment of universities of technology in the Country. Our philosophy is to develop high manpower needs that would meet the Nigerian ICT aspirations in such areas as business establishments, through web networking, cybercrimes and terrorism overcoming at both local and international scenes, alleviate fraud in business enterprises, create jobs and wealth, and reduce unemployment and invariability poverty. The Department would therefore build strong manpower that would meet diversified demands in cyber security noted for in the local and International arena. Objectives of the Department Cyber Security Science Department aims at the following objectives: i. To develop graduates on basic information security skills that would curb frauds; ii. To develop malware detective codes and supportive software agents that would reduce critical security threats for the internet and web community; iii. To develop and enhance malware and digital forensic science that would render the detections of cybercrimes detections on the web and on internet devices; iv. To develop graduates on cryptology and web security for businesses and commercial enterprises for cloud computing so that businesses secrecy and security are achieved; v. To develop manpower that would defend the Nigerian cyberspace and at the international scenes through collaborations; vi. To lay down concrete foundation on cryptology through the functionality of number theory and/or discrete mathematics. vii. To establish a data mining and machine learning computational awareness for the extraction of useful information from crime databases that could detect malicious acts.
