INDIGENOUS ORGANIZATIONS AND DEVELOPMENT

ABSTRACT

INDIGENOUS ORGANIZATIONS ARE grassroot associations built on the principles of cooperation and organized group work. These purely traditional organizations, which include community development associations or unions, have existed for many centuries in different forms, especially among peasant societies, and have been responsible for much of the socio-economic and physical development of their respective communities.
