ABSTRACT
Inventory management in the performance of stores department at
Nice house of plastics Kampala district Uganda.
The problem statement of the study is that inventory management in the performance of today's
management, performance of stores department on stock is very difficult.
The purpose of the study is to fid out the problems facing inventory management 111 the
performance of stores department in Nice house of plastics.
The objectives of the study are, to find out the relationship between inventory management in the
performance of stores department, To find out how inventory is measured in Nice house of
plastics, and to find out the problems facing inventory management.
The methodology of the study covers the research design, study population, sampling design, s
of data, research instruments and data analysis.
Findings of the study were, there is a relationship between inventory management in the
performance of stores department which is 83% , the methods used to measure inventory were
fast moving, non moving and slow moving methods and the problems facing inventory
management which included competition with other plastic industries like Ken Africa, Mukwano
group of companies, limited storage facilities ,co-ordination with other departments and also
policy development in the organization.
Conclusion of the study is that, there exists a relationship between inventory and the stores
department which is 83%, the commonly used method in measuring inventory is fast moving,
slow moving, and non moving technique, and the common problem is competition and limited
storage facilities.

Recommendation, more research should be done on measures of inventory, Pareto principle and
Vital Essential and Describe, Gordon BC 1997 so as measuring inventory becomes easy.
Proper record keeping should be done so as to ensure consistency and accuracy with the industry

Stores should have limited access to (tight security) to avoid misusing of stock Robert S Russel
(2000).
Proper policies should be developed so as to guide the flow of inventory and the industry as a
whole Jessup Jones (2005)
To way out competition, quality control should be put in place like timely production
