This research work was carried out on the rice soils of Ebonyi State, considering the Manganese distribution in upland, lowland and irrigated rice in the three Local Government Areas of Ebonyi State, namely; Abakaliki, Ikwo and Ivo LGAs in the three agricultural zones namely; Ebonyi North, Central and South. In the different locations, upland (UP), lowland (LP) and irrigated (IP) uses were considered. They were identified as AUP, ALP and AIP for Abakaliki IUP, ILP and IIP for Ikwo and IvUP, IvLP, and IvIP for Ivo. Each of the rice soil types were delineated, and three profile pits dug in each of the rice land uses to investigate the distribution of Manganese. Manganese was low in Ebonyi north and Ebonyi southern soils as most soils in these regions indicated mean Mn 20 mgkg-1 which is the critical limit of agricultural soils. The Mn contents in Ebonyi north and Ebonyi central varied highly (CV>35%) with the exception of ALP2 and ILP1that varied moderately (CV>15≤35%). However, at the Southern Ebonyi, coefficient of variation ranged from low, moderate to high in their investigated pedons.
