ABSTRACT This study established the relationship between monitoring and evaluation and employee performance in the selected parastatal bodies of National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) and National Environment and Management Authority (NEMA). Specifically it addressed; (1) the demographic characteristics of the participants in both National Water and Sewerage Corporation and National Environment and Management Authority, (2) the level of monitoring and evaluation, (3), the degree of employee performance, and (4) whether there is a significant relationship between monitoring and evaluation and employee performance. The study used a descriptive correlation survey and data was collected from 112 participants from National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC=59) and National Environment and Management Authority (NWSC~53) using questionnaires. Data was analyzed using frequencies for the participant profile, means of the level of monitoring and evaluation and employee performance and a Pearson linear correlation coefficient for the relationship between monitoring and evaluation and employee performance. The study established that majority of employees in National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) are male where as in National Environment and Management Authority (NEMA) there are female and also that they range from 30-40 year of age, with degrees and masters. The Null hypothesis showed no significant relationship between monitoring and evaluation and employee performance meaning that it was accepted in both NWSC and NEMA. The following recommendations were made; there is need for participation in decision, need to employ professional experts in the organization who are able to carry out monitoring and evaluation, put up measures to ensure fairness and openness in rating of employees, train employees on monitoring and evaluation, and carry consistent periodic ratings.
