PROBLEMS AND CHALLENGES OF PZ CUSSONS NIGERIA PLC IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF ODOGUNYAN, IKORODU, LAGOS STATE. (1980-2018)

Multinational Corporations are usually very large corporate entities that while having their base of operations in one nation—the “home nation”—carry out and conduct business in at least one other, but usually many nations, in what are called the “host nations.” It is a well appreciated fact that multinational corporations (MNCs), no matter their sizes or resources are catalyst of development of host communities. According to Litvin, Multinational corporations (MNCs) can spur economic activities in developing countries and provide an opportunity to improve the qualities of life, economic growth, and regional and global commons. But if this assertion is of the affirmative, then, the Odogunyan, Ikorodu, Lagos State, story is contradictory. This is because, this community plays host to different MNCs, whether from the textile (Sunflag PLC) Iron (African Steel) to the food sector (Chikki PLC) all are well represented in Odogunyan, and amongst these MNCs, is our main subject of study, the PZ Cussons PLC.
