Role of Vocational and Technical Education Towards the Development of National Economy for Self Sustainance

Abstract

This paper examines the role of vocational and technical education towards the development of national economy for self-sustenance. Vocational and technical education being the education that makes an individual to be self reliance, non- dependence on white collar job also served as the education that boost the economy situation of the nation and alleviate poverty among the citizens. This paper points out the importance of vocational and technical education and its concept, the concept of sustainable national economy development, importance of vocational and technical education and the problems facing vocational and technical education in Nigeria. It also point out the benefit that could be derived from such education, the national policy on education also support vocational/technical education being the form of education that could alleviate poverty among the citizen of Nigeria, and also it recommend various ways by which vocational and technical education can alleviate poverty among our youths and by which the economy of nation will be develop.
