DEVELOPMENT OF A SMART FINGERPRINT DOOR LOCK ACCESS CONTROL WITH TIME MANAGEMENT

ABSTRACT

This dissertation proposes a holistic Smart Door Lock Access Control System, integrating cutting-edge technology to effectively address challenges in controlled access, real-time monitoring, and efficient time management. The system prioritizes security and user management, employing a fingerprint biometric scanner for robust user identification and.

Time management features allow administrators to define precise accessibility schedules, providing granular control over entry permissions. Real-time monitoring and analysis are facilitated through Google Sheets integration, enabling instant tracking of entry stages.
User details stored on the ESP8266 and SD card are synchronized with Google Sheets, allowing for comprehensive security analysis reports. The system optimally employs a low-end microcontroller, ensuring cohesive communication between hardware components.

Network time protocols guarantee accurate time synchronization. Furthermore. The system explores advanced enhancement strategies, including behavioral biometrics, and randomized biometric templates to bolster security and privacy protection. Evaluation of key performance metrics, such as transmission time of 0.0068sec, false rejection rate (FRR) of 0.04, and false acceptance rate (FAR) of 0.01, underscores the system's effectiveness and reliability in real-world scenarios. Preliminary testing indicates a robust security infrastructure, with biometric authentication consistently achieving accurate user identification and reliable scheduling controlling access within defined temporal constraints. Future research directions may focus on refining algorithms, optimizing performance, and addressing emerging security challenges in biometric authentication.
