ABSTRACT The study was the influence of patriarchy on girl-child education in primary schools. A case study: Mugusu sub-county in Kabarole district. The main objective of this research study was to find out the influence of patriarchy on girl-child education in Mugusu subcounty. The research instruments include the following; interview guide, a discussion guide and the observation as well. The research study on a whole, found out that patriarchy is part of the culture, Through the views got from the respondents and the related literature, the research study found out that, patriarchy has had a lot of effects on girl-child education, It does not only affect girlchild education but even other aspects of a girl/woman life. The research study found out that the problems that convince parents/guardians to educate boys rather than girls are mostly attributed to patriarchy; male parents have always made comparisons on who should be educated most. Thus, the first priority goes to a boy in most of the families, Also the research revealed that parents who give birth to girls only celebrate because the burden of school fees is reduced, this means that girls’ education to them still holds no value, thus such attitudes, economic hardship and patriarchal operations are the most responsible factors as to why more boys than girls are educated, The study showed teachers’ understanding of the concept was nearly similar to that of the pupils because teachers are concerned with the problems that affect pupils’ education. Thus in this case they looked at patriarchy as the main cause of instabilities in girl-child education. Parents knew the operation but 62 percent of them did not want to disclose their information because they were guilty of enslaving girls under patriarchy.
