ABSTRACT
The study carried out a critical analysis and investigation on senior citizens grand scheme in Kayunga district. This study was carried out in the whole district of Kayunga in the eastern part of Buganda. Previous studies indicated that a number of factors from the failure of social security to elderly people which was specifically in the traditional African
society setting of extended family system to recognize the mental abilities and capabilities of the elderly people do affect them to a large extent since they can not afford to withstand the poverty environment that can not best describe and suite their living standards.
The researcher findings revealed that challenges of the senior citizens scheme originated from may sources, from the selection process, the amount of money
given out, timing of the money, and the saving culture of the old people which is a natural event of people in Kayunga district in particular and Uganda at large of poor saving culture.
A number of measures have been drawn up basing on the researchers observation and conclusions of the research findings. This includes among others that thyre is need across the globe to put more emphasis on supporting the elderly people to boost the life style. Government should increase funds foe the elderly people to cater for at least three quarters % s of the needs of the elderly people such that serious poverty is not seen in those beneficiaries.
