Abstract
Every human society has a way of doing things ranging from the way they eat, dress, act, communicate and co-exist. It is their culture that informs their attitudes towards life. Igbo people are known for their rich cultural, traditional institutions and values but these have been hampered by western civilization, thus the need for cultural renaissance but the youths in an attempt to resuscitate these core Igbo traditional institutions and values have bastardized it. This paper therefore takes a cursory look using the method of critical assessment at the various ways these core Igbo traditional institutions and values have been bastardized, the causes of these cultural bastardization and makes recommendations on how to blend the traditional institutions with the evolving western civilization.
