Academic Stress Among Home Economics Students in Federal College of Education Pankshin

ABSTRACT

The study was conducted on Academic Stress Among Home Economics Students in Federal College of Education Pankshin, Pankshin local government area of plateau state. This study employed survey research design. Based on the focus of the study, three research objectives, and corresponding research questions and two basic assumptions were formulated which offers the study a direction. A sample of 50 respondents selected from Home Economics department was used for the study. The instrument used was the questionnaire which comprised of twenty (20) items. Data collected from the sampled respondents was analyzed using simple percentage. The findings of the study shows that Home Economics students are faced with different stress, which are physical-technical stress, social-personal stress and different levels of stress for the different levels of education (NCE I, NCEII and NCE III)t. Based on the outcome of the study, it was recommended that The findings of this study should be taken into consideration when designing out intervention programmes for Home Economics students experiencing academic stress, The College should also put mechanisms in place to avoid time-table clashes, ensure lecturers’ regular attendance and approachability to the students as well as providing adequate facilities and learning experiences to the students in all the years of study.
