ABSTRACT
This research report was compiled on the response of foreign firms to
corporate social responsibility, taking Barclays bank - Iganga Branch as
my case study.
It established the corporate social responsibility policy of Barclays bank,
the extent to which this bank has adhered to its corporate social
responsibility and the hurdles the bank finds in its endeavour to pursue
its CSR policy.
The researcher found out that Barclays bank has great concern for the
society in which it operates and therefore a fair CSR policy. Among
others, the bank's CSR policy is extended to its employees, customers,
potential customers and the society at large.
The researcher also found out that Barclays bank aids its employees to go
for further studies, organizes refresher courses, seminars and workshops
for the benefit of its employees.
The researcher also found out the bank aids its clients to go for further
studies through a special loan named 'schools fees' loan. This does not
only assist clients but also children of these clients in the bank.
The researcher still found out that this firm, aids potential clients by
granting them access to operate accounts with minimum initial deposits and to some without even any deposit.
