Assessment On Effects Of Management Practices On Employees’ Job Satisfactions In Tanzania: A Case Of Chamwino District Council

ABSTRACT

This study has intended to assess the effects of various management practices on employee job satisfactions. A cross sectional research design was adopted; the sample size of 225 respondents was obtained through a purposive and non-purposive sampling techniques. The study used both quantitative and qualitative methods for data analysis in order to achieve the objectives of the study. Statistical Package of Social Sciences (SPSS) and Excel software were used to analyze the data. Findings have revealed that, most of the employees were not satisfied with various management practices that were offered. Factors like low wages and salaries (96%), poor compensation structure (80%), inadequate training (62.2%) and absence of promotions (76.9%) and improper practice of rewards were prime management practices for job dissatisfactions. It was also found out that employees had negative perceptions on different management practice (73.8%). Likewise it was observed that, motivation level and moral among employees were very low. Regarding to the compensation structure offered, it was revealed that majority of employees (60.9%) were not satisfied. Others (69.4%) appealed the level of job satisfaction in general is very low by Furthermore, it discovered that job dissatisfaction have impact to the organization performance as lowering of working performance (78.3%), absenteeism/delays (64.4%) and staff turnover (55.9%. Generally, it discovered that the management practices have an impact towards employees’ job satisfaction and productivity at work place.
