Diversified Views on the Discourse on the Structural Adjustment Program (SAP)

Introduction


The Structural Adjustment Program (SAP) was a blueprint of the Bretton Woods institutions, the World Bank (WB), and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the economic rejuvenation and the development of Nigeria’s economy.

According to them, IMF and WB, Nigeria’s then economic quagmire was because of mal-adjustment and not exploitation of Nigeria in the capitalist global economy.

The term Structural Adjustment by the Bretton Woods institutions is denoting of, a short-termcomplex loan by the World Bank or IMF to a country suffering from an economic crisis. In order to improve the terms of the loan or to get a new one, the country in question has to 

implement new policies
