E-Procurement And Organizational Performance: A Case Study Of National Medical Stores Kampala Uganda

ABSTRACT 

The purpose of this study was to establish the relationship between e-procurement and organizational performance a case study of national Medical Stores Kampala Uganda. The study was guided by the following objectives, to establish the benefits and challenges of e-procurement at National Medical Stores, to establish the performance of the organization using eprocurement to establish the relationship between e-procurement and organizational performance. The researcher employed qualitative, quantitative and research design. The target population of the study was procurement department, top management and staff, from which a sample size of 80 respondents were obtained. Data was collected using questionnaire and interviews. Data was analysed quantitatively and qualitatively, using tables, graph, pie charts, Microsoft word and excel. The findings of the study revealed that majority of the respondents were male 80% compared to 20% females. The findings on the benefits and challenge organization performance and relationship based on the field in gs ::ibo e. The following recommendations were made. There is need for the procurement department stall of NMS to highlight to management the benefits of E-Procurement and the challenges likely to be faced while implementing E-Procurement. In order for the organisation in Uganda to achieve benefits of e-procurement in the performance of National medical Stores Kampala Uganda. then mgani at ion must implement proper documentation of procurement processes which is executed on line. In conclusion. E-Procurement at NMS is at its preliminary stage and has no fully flagged E-Procurement solution, and only handful procurement processes are perform ed online, most of the procurement processes are still carried out manually. The few E-Procurement applications processes have improved the organisation performance through better price, customer satisfaction and shorter procurement cycle time. The relationship between procurement and organisational performance do exist but measuring its impact requires an organisation with a full procurement solution in place. Area of further study is as follows, though a great deal, as taken by the researcher, several ends were loosely tied. The following incomplete areas in this study are recommended for further research. The role government can play in fostering the adoption of E-Procurement by private organizations.
