EMT LAW 501- Environmental Laws and Policies

INTRODUCTION The coming into existence of environmental law was a result of the need to safeguard human health and adequately protect the environment from pollution, degradation and destruction. It is imperative to state that the environment which is sine quanon to the existence of life needs protection. The extent to which the laws are successful in the protection of the environment will depend largely on the components of the environment that it is able to protect. In order for measures put in place to protect the environment to be impactful, all stakeholders must be on the same page in respect of the application of Environmental Law in the sustainability of the environment. For Environmental Law to be effective it cannot operate in isolation of Science and Technology. They all must work in tandem and operate in synergy. By the end of this unit, you should be able to: · Understand the term environmental law · Understand the concept of environmental law both in Nigeria and in other parts of the world.
