ABSTRACT
This Study was carried out to evaluate the influence of students’attitudes towards Physical Education among S.H.S students in Kwahu Afram Plains. Descriptive survey research design was used for this study. The researcher sought to measure the intangible variable attitude which is not directly observable but must be inferred from responses made by the subject to questionnaire. In all six schools were purposively sampled. A sampled size of 258 respondents from the six schools in Kwahu Afram Plains was used. This number comprised a census of the headmasters in the selected schools, a random sample of 12 parents and 40 non P.E teachers from all the schools and stratified random sample of 30 students (SHS 1-3) from each of the schools ensuring equal number of boys and girls. The date analysis revealed that students had a positive attitude towards students’ participation in physical education. The findings revealed that the four benefits derived from participation in physical activities (healthy and well-being, physically fit, socialization and learning readiness),role models and personal experiences(personal interest, previous experience and teachers influence) were the factors that lead to students positive attitude towards physical education.It was revealed that all teachers have positive attitude towards participation in physical activities which also affects students’ attitudes positively towards P.E. Also, the findings of this study negate the existence of negative attitudes of students towards Physical Education.
