Impact of public policy in branding a nation’s Image for Nigeria among Nigerians

Abstract

This research work explores the impact of public policy in branding a nation’s Image for Nigeria among Nigerians with specific reference to Economic and Financial Crimes commission. Specifically, the study investigates the feelings and opinions of Nigerians towards Nigeria as a country, determines the effectiveness of crime control agency on security among Nigerians, assess the level at which the introduction of crime control commission has improved the produce of Nigerian in the eyes of Nigerians and assess the level of Nigeria image among Nigerians after the introduction of crime control agency.Data was collected with the aid of a structured questionnaire administered to one hundred and forty seven (147) respondents randomly selected from Nigerian Diasporas in UK.  Data was analysed with aid of SPSS using descriptive statistics, t-test, Chi-Square and linear regression analysis. Study finds that crime control agency (EFCC) was significantly related with security. The relationship was positive which indicates that the more the government encourages crime control agency, the more they are likely to be committed to Nigeria security. The study also finds that introduction of crime agency has really improved Nigerian produce and her image among Nigerians. Subsequently, the study recommends that government should make sure that the anti-corruption agencies in the country are staffed with credible individuals and political interference in the activities of these agencies should stop. If corruption is drastically reduced, the international image of the country will greatly improve.
