The study sought to establish the role of internal control systems on the performance of commercial banks and was driven by mainly three objectives. These objectives include; the need to investigate the effects of internal control system on the performance of Equity Bank, the need to determine the different types of internal control systems used by Equity bank, and the third objective is to establish the relationship between internal control system and performance of Equity bank. To achieve these objectives, the researcher sampled twenty (20) respondents from Equity Bank-Kabalagala branch. The study utilized qualitative and quantitative research methods; four data collection instruments were used, structured interview guides and questionnaires and the collected data was presented in table form and analyzed statistically to decipher findings. The researcher was guided by three research questions; the first research question sought to find out the relationship between internal control systems 3.Ild the performance of commercial banks and the research revealed that there is a strong link between internal control systems and performance of ~ommercial banks in Uganda.
