ABSTRACT
This study carried out an investigation on the role and effect of management information system and performance ACT Alliance Members, Juba, South Sudan. The objectives of the study were 1) to determine the relationship between transaction processing Systems and performance. 2) to examine the relation between expert support system and performance 3) to examine the relationship between Decision Support System and performance 4) to examine the relationship between Operating Information systems and performance. The study employed descriptive correlation study design which involved both quantitative and qualitative approaches. With regards to this method, the researcher used structured questionnaires containing three sections A, and B. Section A dealt with profile of respondents, B dealt with the various types of management information system. Out of a target population of 141, 104 respondents were identified as the sample size by use of the Slovene’s formula. Simple random sampling and purposive sampling techniques were used to identify the respondents to take part in the study. Analysis entailed frequencies, percentages, means, standard deviation, t statistic, ranks, charts and interpretations. Findings suggested that the management information system was ineffective as per the performance indicators. It was also established that there was a relationship between management Information system and performance provision which stood at 0.783 on the Pearson Correlation scale which was interpreted as positive and strong relationship. In terms of causality, management information system was also found to influence performance by an R2 coefficient of 0.613 which was interpreted as significant. The study suggests more budgetary allocations to MIS priorities/targets specially in improving transaction process, decision support systems, operations information system and artificial/expert system, introduce Inter- and Intra-organization DSS, Copy examples from other INGOs in Juba, South Sudan, and develop an effective information technology based on the MIS needs of selected ACT Alliance Juba South Sudan.
