.MICRO-FINANCE SERVICES AND POVERTY ERADICTION IN UGANDA: CASE STUDY: FINCA (U) BEN KIWANUKA BRANCH KAMPALA

ABSTRACT The study analyzed the relationship between microfinance services and pove1iy eradication in Uganda using as a case study FIN CA (U) Ben kiwanuka branch. The purpose of the study was to examine the conhibution of vaiious micro finance services on poverty eradication. Qualitative methods were used in the process of date collection. Qualitatively, the research involved the application of observation techniques, interviews and questionnaires. This research was carried out using the simple random sampling method. All the respondents were selected randomly and consisted of different age groups and types of clients from the youth to the old, both male and female were interviewed. The data was collected, presented, analyzed and interpreted to get the required infonnation for the research study. The findings of the study revealed that 75% of the respondents agreed that services of microfinance institutions such as loans, savings, advisory services (i.e. how to use obtained

funds) have reduced poverty. Similarly clients are in position to own consumer durables and are !n condition to live an improved standard of living. The research concluded that the services offered by microfinance institutions have a positive effect on the clients who access those services since their standard of living is improved and they able to establish small scale business as a result of accessed loans
