Stakeholders’ Engagement in Education and School Effectiveness in Secondary Schools, Iganga Municipality, Uganda.

ABSTRACT This study investigated the relationship between Stakeholders’ Engagement in Education and School Effectiveness in Secondary Schools in Iganga Municipality,Uganda. It was based on three objectives; to identif3i the nature of stakeholders’ engagement ineducation in secondary schools, to examine the level of School effectiveness, and to establish the relationship between stakeholders’ engagement and School effectiveness. A questionnaire was used to obtain data from 190 participants who were selected using purposive and simple random sampling, Mean (m) and standard deviation were used to analyze data for nature of stakeholders’ engagement and level of School effectiveness while Pearson correlation coefficients were used to establish the relationship. The findings showed that the aspects of stakeholders’ engagement found to be very important in the study area were; issue identification (m= 16.0948), preparation (m= 16.3579) and communication (nv= 15.9186) while prioritization was low in the study area (m=13.2736). On the other hand, school effectiveness in Iganga Municipality was high in terms of resource availability (m 14.0 158), planning (m= 13.2368), and productivity (m=~ 14.0105) while availability of cohesive workforce (rn 12.4789) was low. It was also found that there is a strong significant relationship between stakeholders’ engagement and School effectiveness(r = .832**, p = .000). The study concluded that there is a relationship between stakeholders’ engagement and school effectiveness and recommended that all stakeholders should participate in planning to enhance engagement and productivity, and resources should be availed to train school leaders on stakeholder engagement.
