STAKEHOLDERS’ SATISFACTION OF THE COMPUTERIZED SCHOOL SELECTION AND PLACEMENT SYSTEM IN GHANA: THE CASE OF MFANTSEMAN MUNICIPALITY

ABSTRACT

The  study  sought  to  investigate  stakeholders’ satisfaction  of  the Computerized School Selection and Placement system (CSSPS), with regard to information quality, system quality, service quality, technological issues and IT self-efficacy, prior, during and after the opening of the system  as against the manual  way  of  selection  and  placement  in  the  Mfantseman  Municipal  in  the Central region  of  Ghana.  A  sample  size  of  526 respondents  made  up of  496 students,  23  basic  school  headteachers,  four  SHS  assistant  headmasters,  one exams  officer  and  two  ICT  coordinators  was used  for  the  study.  Both  the purposive  and  the  simple  random  sampling  were  used.  Questionnaire  was employed as the research instrument to collect data for the study. A reliability test using the internal consistency method was carried out. The Cronbach alpha reliability  statistics  value  of  0.93  and  0.86  were  obtained  for  both  students’ questionnaire  and  head  teachers  questionnaire  respectively.  The  data  were analyzed  using  descriptive  statistics  (frequencies,  mean,  standard  deviations, variance)  and  the  Pearson’s  product-moment  correlations.  It  was  found  that stakeholders perceived the selection and placement processes were easier and faster  for  both  candidates  and  their  parents  as  compared  to the  manual  way. Also, stakeholders  were  satisfied  that  the  less  privileged  candidates  get placement without paying any amount of money to any of the SHS heads for . ICT self-efficacy  and  technological  issues  were  good  before  the opening of the system but information quality was bad. During the opening of the  system,  information  quality  was  good  while  service  quality  was  not encouraging.  The CSSPS Secretariat should upgrade their system so that when more people are accessing the site, the system would not slow down or freeze.
