The development of any nation depends on many factors including education. Recently, the government of India introduced New Education Policy 2020 .The policy emphasized on all educational aspects to bring change and development in the Indian Education System. The objectives of this study was (1) To identify the major changes advocated by NEP 2020 for improving the quality of Higher Education in India and (2) To examine the pros and cons of NEP 2020 in Higher education in India. This paper focuses on NEP 2020 and its impact on the Higher Education system in Assam. This study uses secondary data by collecting from websites, publications and other reliable sources. The paper provides suggestions and recommendation for the effective implementations of NEP 2020 on Higher Education.
