The Impact Of Training On Employee Performance And Turnover: A Case Study Of Kondoa District Council

ABSTRACT

Recently employee training has become more important to organisations which seek higher performance since there is competition among organisation. Thus the study was devoted on the impact of training on employee performance and turnover. The study was conducted at Kondoa District Council in Dodoma region. The respondents of the study involved the employees and employer/management of KDC. The sampling techniques were simple random sampling and purposive sampling. Simple random sampling was used to obtain respondents from all groups while purposive sampling was used to obtain senior officials such as heads of department. Sample of 100 people was drawn from both employer/management and employee of KDC. Primary and secondary data were used and analysis used quantitative and qualitative methods with findings being presented in tables, figures and text to simplify interpretation. The study revealed that, training has major significance towards performance improvement since it leads to job satisfaction and morale, punctuality and commitment and turnover reduction. Also it revealed that there was weak or no relationship between employee training and turnover since training is motivation for employee to prefer his/her organisation and job.
