The Role Of Religion On The St Ability And Development Of Uganda: A Case Study Of Lutheran World Federation

The resilience of religion in developing countries is now plain to see. In Afiica and Uganda in pa1ticular, religion shows no sign of disappearing or diminishing in public importance, as development theorists have generally supposed.

The objective of the study was to investigate the role of religion in the stability and development of Uganda. The main research instrument was a questionnaire with the employees of Lutheran World Federation (LWF). The results from the questionnaire were triangulated with secondary data sources. It is concluded from the findings of the study that Individuals and faith-based organisations from a variety of religions traditions are increasingly active in attempts to end conflicts and to foster post-conflict reconciliation between warring pa1ties in various parts of the world. It was revealed from the findings of the study that religion through its organisations has been the one responsible for providing spiritual and to a great extent social welfare for its followers. It was recommended that the educational policy makers should fo1mulate policies that will ensure that development and stability is achieved through encouraging more religious institutions joining the crusade for pove1ty alleviation and peace building.
