ABSTRACT
The general objective of the study was to determine the effect of ICT use on staff performance staff performance at Jinja District local government and the specific objectives were to determine the level of use of ICT in Uganda, level of staff performance in Uganda and to establish the relationship between ICT and staff performance in Uganda. The findings of the study revealed that the level of ICT use in Uganda has improved as respondents agreed to most of the statements that were used to measure this objective. Except that it was revealed that the staffs have never attended any training on Microsoft office, stata is not used in data analysis and that the employees do not get trainings on new statistical packages. The findings of the study revealed that there is a high level of staff performance due to the use of ICT as respondents agreed to all the statements that were used to measure this objective. Furthermore, findings of the study revealed that there is a positive relationship between ICT use and staff performance. It was generally revealed that increased use of ICT improves staff performance of local governments by 80%. The study recommends that; the government should facilitate trainings in Microsoft office and new statistical packages as respondents revealed that they don’t get that offer, stata package should be introduced for it is the best for analyzing time series data which is dealt with at the district and that the staff should continue to learn more ICT techniques as it enhances their performance.
