The scholarship supports individuals who are undertaking post-graduate study that will ultimately make a difference to Australia in one of three areas; technology and innovation, fostering Australian-Asian ties, and enabling positive social change. As well as your studies, the scholarship provides a nine-month Leadership Development Program which will build on your personal strengths and give you the insights, learning and inspiration you need to make your mark on the world.

2. Rhodes Scholarship at Adelaide University

Standing up for the world.

Rhodes Scholarships are postgraduate awards supporting outstanding all-round students at the University of Oxford.

Subject to limited restrictions, Rhodes Scholars may read for any full-time postgraduate degree at the University of Oxford. The basic tenure of the Scholarship is two years.

Rhodes seeks young women and men of outstanding intellect, character, leadership and commitment to service.  The Rhodes Scholarships support students who demonstrate a strong propensity to emerge as ‘leaders for the world’s future’.

The Selection Committees are looking for the following:

  • academic excellence (e.g. First Class Honours or GPA of minimum 6.75). Further details on the academic requirements can be found on the Rhodes website
  • energy to use your talents to the full (as demonstrated by mastery in areas such as sports, music, debate, dance, theatre, and artistic pursuits, particularly where teamwork is involved)
  • truth, courage, devotion to duty, sympathy for and protection of the weak, kindliness, unselfishness and fellowship
  • moral force of character and instincts to lead, and to take an interest in your fellow human beings

A Rhodes Scholarship covers all University and College fees, a personal stipend and economy class airfare to Oxford and back to the student’s home country.

The Gates Cambridge Scholarship programme was established in October 2000 by a donation of US$210m from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to the University of Cambridge; this is the largest ever single donation to a UK university.

We offer 90 full-cost scholarships each year to outstanding applicants from countries outside the UK to pursue a full-time postgraduate degree (inc research degree) in any subject available at the University of Cambridge.

The selection criteria are:

  • outstanding intellectual ability
  • leadership potential
  • a commitment to improving the lives of others
  • a good fit between the applicant’s qualifications and aspirations and the postgraduate programme at Cambridge for which they are applying

There are about 225 Scholars from c. 50 countries studying in Cambridge at any one time who pursue the full range of subjects available at the University and are spread across its departments and Colleges.

The aim of the Gates Cambridge programme is to build a global network of future leaders committed to improving the lives of others.

4. Knight-Hennessy Scholars

Payment per year Tuition, fees, stipend for living and academic expenses, one economy-class return trip to and from Stanford. Knight-Hennessy Scholars may apply for supplemental funds to support academic endeavors (e.g. conference travel)
Duration Up to three years. For programs longer in duration, the Stanford Department will cover the remaining cost of the program

Knight-Hennessy Scholars develops a community of future global leaders to address complex challenges through collaboration and innovation. Every year, up to 100 high-achieving students from around the world will receive full funding to pursue any graduate degree at Stanford, including joint- and dual-degrees. Knight-Hennessy Scholars is the largest fully endowed scholars program in the world.

In addition to pursuing your graduate research studies, shape your own experience as a Knight-Hennessy Scholar through the King Global Leadership Program. Eligibility

  • Citizens of all countries can apply
  • Hold the equivalent of a US Bachelor’s degree from a University of recognised standing
  • Must be applying for a full-time graduate degree program at Stanford (you can’t have already commenced)
  • Must apply during your final year of study for your first/bachelor’s degree or within five years of earning your first/bachelor’s degree
  • Meet the requirements of the Stanford graduate program(s) that you wish to pursue
