Enrolment, progression and completion rates of students in Junior Secondary Schools in FCT All

ABSTRACT     

This studd the enrolment, progression and completion rates of students in Junior y Schools in Federal Capital Territory: 2007 -2014. Descriptive research rich is ex post facto in nature was adopted for this study. Six research and three null hypotheses guided the study. The population of the study858 students registered in 143 public secondary schools in the six Area of the Federal Capital Territory during the period of the study. Secondar enrolment, progression and completion of Junior Secondary School s-ere collected from the Department of Planning"" Research and Statisticsal Basic Education Board. Frequency counts"" percentages, standard and mean score were used in answering research questions, vvhi Ie t-tlsed to test the hypotheses of the study at 0.05 level of significarindings revealed that male students enrolment vvere relatively higher t.ln students during the period reviewed. The study established no significamce in the enrolment of boys and girls"" and significant differenc progression and completion rates of boys and girls in FCT Junior S6chools from 2007-2014. It was therefore recommended that, all culturlitional practices which may tend to enhance gender inequality should bilged at all levels of education and govemment (federal, state and localmcils) should give financial assistance through scholarship or bursariesage the enrolment of female students.
