ABSTRACT The ashes of different types of agricultural biomasses from Githurai market and rice husks collected from Mwea, have been analyzed for their inorganic elements content using both Atomic Absorption and X-Ray Fluorescence Spectroscopic Techniques. The results show that ash content of various agro-waste ranges from 3.31± 0.10% to 23.92±0.39% with rice husks having 23.92±0.39%. Further analysis on the ashes show that some biomaterials contain very high levels of K2O and Na2O, for inst...
ABSTRACT In this research field line resonance (FLR) phenomenon have been investigated to occur in earth‟s magnetosphere, and that is for a further verification of this phenomenon via data analysis. FLR could be generated in a specific plasma medium, e.g. generated via a fast mode wave within the coupling system of solar wind- earth‟s magnetosphere (SW-M). Hence, many previous studies have focused on studying the FLR in earth‟s magnetosphere because of the importance of this phenom...
Abstract The need for a remote control system that can control domestic appliances and various lighting points and sockets has often been a concern for users. At times users find it inconvenient and time consuming to go around turning their appliances on or off each time there is power outage or each time they are leaving the house for work. It has also often led to damage of appliances due to the fact that an appliance was not turned off before leaving the house. The Objective of putting up...
ABSTRACT A wireless remote weather station is an ideal solution for knowing the weather conditions at a specific remote location. Weather forecasts are informative, but they are only a forecast. With a Remote Weather Station, one would always know the exact weather conditions from where ever the Remote Weather Station is located. This project seeks to devise a simple low-cost microcontroller-based remote weather station that measures weather conditions using sensors to measure temperature, h...
ABSTRACT The purpose of this research is to determine the main factors affecting Quality of Service based on mobile Third Generation (3G) and Fourth Generation (4G) service in Angola. The main reason to stimulate the present study was the significantly low rate speed on 3G and 4G service among mobile users in Angola where unlike many other countries the rate of this usage runs in opposite way. Thanks to increasing advances in wireless communications devices, the number of mobile users has g...
Abstract Mobile telecoms industry has become a key element of productivity across economies and societies worldwide. The rigorous demand for delivery of services of uncompromising quality in the highly competitive cellular industry has challenged the operators to constantly upgrade their networks. In Zimbabwe we have witnessed a significant transformation within this sector because of the impact it has on the economy with LTE being the latest technology to be considered by most mobile operato...
ABSTRACT The main objective of mobile operators is to enable mobile users to stay connected while roaming across heterogeneous networks. As cellular networks evolve from the third generation Universal Mobile Telecommunication System (UMTS) to the Long Term Evolution (LTE), a new Evolved Packet Core (EPC) will support heterogeneous radio access networks on the same platform. UMTS provides voice services in the circuit switched domain; while LTE operates in the packet switched domain. Cellular ...
Abstract In recent years, the inventions in communication systems require the development of low cost, minimal weight, compact and low profile antennas that are capable of maintaining high performance over a wide spectrum of frequencies. This technological trend has focused much effort in the design of micro strip patch antennas because of its inherent characteristics that fits the requirements of modern communication devices. This dissertation presents the design and simulation of a compact ...
Abstract The proportional, integral and derivative (PID) technique is a reliable and widely used art to control and regulate complex processes. The PID block and signal conditioners are constructed by hand inside a small memory Schneider PLC without inbuilt process control loops using software. Analogue input module of the PLC receives the analogue unconditioned signal from the rtd/thermocouple sensor, passes it through the signal conditioning phase to the pid block. The PID block executes th...
ABSTRACT Sand gravity filters can be automated to suit your requirements. Be it industrial or domestic this model can be implemented with ease. This research is mainly focused on getting sand gravity filters in industries automated using measurable variables like flow and level. The controls are based mainly on monitoring the filter tank level versus the outlet and inlet flows. Inlet flow and outlet flow are regulated to maintain a certain level beyond which the filter tank will be deemed flo...
ABSTRACT Rapid population growths or rural to urban migration and importation of small cheap private cars (mishikashika) has brought a lot of disarray in the public transport sector resulting n increased accidents ,traffic jams and inefficient transportation solutions in most major cities. The traditionally safer bus system is now underutilized and also ne sprouting illegal suburbs which are densely populated are being poorly serviced in terms of transport systems .this project seeks to bring...
Abstract These days, robots, for example, line robot car, mechanical arm, robotic finger and other products were being utilized for several purpose. Robots convey a considerable measure of advantages to the general public, so they are prominently utilized as a part of industry, house and work put. In this undertaking, the outline of wireless industrial robotic vehicle ought to have the capacity to deal with and lift up an object and furthermore can be controlled utilizing remote joystick. The...
ABSTRACT The evolution of technologies in the cellular wireless communication from first generation (1G) to LTE has taken a giant step that other sectors of the industry, social, academia to name but a few, especially in the developing world are struggling to cope. Some countries in the third world are still using 1G and 2G equipment, three or four steps behind LTE, which is more than a quarter of a century lag. The need for engineering students to have hands-on experience on equipment and ma...
