ABSTRACT
Whenever there is a language barrier in any society or group members, there is no communication. Kiswahili has been chosen to be an official language for East African Community however, there are some difficulties for its implementation as some parts of East Africa especially in Uganda do not accept Kiswahili due to their negative perception upon it. Therefore, a reasonable solution must be taken particularly in the concerned areas to make sure that the communication barrier arising from the language differences is eliminated. This report tries to find out the validity of Kiswahili in Kampala city. In this report different Kiswahili stake holders like Mass Media, Ministry of Education and Sports, business men and women have been cross-examined to see the legitimacy of Kiswahili in Kampala city. Moreover the report tries to present the findings and give out some recommendations.
