Abstract
The study assessed the environmental implications of Gwagwalada rapid urbanization on health of residents. The study specifically examined health outcome of rapid urbanization on the different socio-economic class; the health outcome of rapid urbanization on water and sanitation; and on housing and residential occupation ratio. A total of 156respondents was drawn from planned, unplanned and rural Gwagwalada through random sampling techniques and simple percentage was used in their analysis. It was found that the increasing health outcome in the study is a product of rapid urbanization as 80% respondent attested to the fact. To arrest the poor environmental health state of Gwagwalada arising from rapid urbanization as observed in the dilapidation of infrastructure and the problems of population growth, two things should be bore in mind. First, is to arrest or monitor the population growth secondly is in the provision and prompt maintenance of existing infrastructure
