ABSTRACT This study was purposely designed and conducted to exmnme the influence of psychosocial education on the prevention of cervical cancer among women in Lira District. The study was focused to find out the influence of sensitization, counseling and palliative on the prevention of cervical cancer among women in Lira District. The researcher applied descriptive study design approaches to derive meanmgs from the data generated. The research instmments used to obtain data during this study composed of Questionnaires stmctured for women and Interview Guide stmctured for nurses and doctors in examining the influence of psychosocial education on prevention of cervical cancer among women in Lira District, while documentary analysis was done for triangulation purpose. Data collection was guided by research questions, objectives and the three mam themes; sensitization, counseling and palliative care. A total of 150 respondents were sampled using purposive and simple random sampling methods from Lira Regional Referral Hospital, considering their knowledge and experience on the variables of study, distributed among women from the ages of 12 to above 55 and across various health professional qualifications ranging from nurses to medical doctors. Results of the study and analysis showed that psychosocial education made significant but minimal contributions towards prevention of cervical cancer among women in Lira district. Revelations from the study further indicates that, despite contributions from the government and other stakeholders in .. carrying out psychosocial education towards the prevention of cervical cancer a lot more is still desired as far prevention of cervical cancer is concerned, these includes The government should join hands with other stakeholders to procure enough logistic to make sure that all women are sensitized on cervical cancer disease by paying for radio talk shows and adverts , TV shows, and use of magazines, news papers, health works and village health team outreach to the communities. Health workers should be trained on cervical cancer counseling like it is done on other diseases like HIV/ AIDS and TB while even recmiting more counselors with specific messages on cervical cancer should be done and train more health workers on cervical cancer disease Health workers should be trained to handle on palliative care
