CHAPTER ONE INTRODUTION 1.1 Back ground of the study KRDT (Kenya Rural Development Training) started its operations in 1999; It is a local NGO (non government organization).It started as a training institute but latter expanded its services to include resolving domestic conflicts improved communication; and conflict resolutions under the lands department. It was aimed at improving the women position in communities which is shown by the establishment of a girl’s school which has primary and ordinary levels. These girls are the disadvantaged ones like orphans, the disabled whose parents cannot afford to pay schooi fees. It has a training which offers Certificates and diplomas in various courses iike They also have a newly established University which is called the African Rural University. This University offers courses like any other UniversIty in the countries. However it targets women who pay ¼ of their fees uniike the males.
