The study investigated Social Media Facilities and Students’ Academic Performance in the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The sample comprised 100 students drawn randomly from four faculties in the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. Students’ addictiveness, students’ exposure and students’s social media usage formed the sub-variables of the study. An instrument titled “Social Media and Academic Performance of Students Questionnaire (SMAAPOSQ)” was used to gather responses from the study sample. The validation of the instrument was done by two expert researchers from the Department of Curriculum Studies, Educational Management and Planning, Faculty of Education, University of Uyo. Three research questions and three hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. The results of the study were analyzed using simple correlation statistics and r-values from simple correlation. The findings of the study revealed that social media facilities have significant influence on the academic performance of University of Uyo student in Akwa Ibom State. The study recommended among others that, Students should better manage their study time in and prevent distractions that can be provided by the social media and focus on the academic relevance of those sites instead of using them for negative purposes.
