ABSTRACT
The success of any enterprise depends largely on the effectiveness of its human resources in the work. The need for the re-appraising training and development in our companies (public sector organization) is apparent. Therefore this work is a research study on the staff training and development in ‘Anambra ‘ with a view to investigating the system and practice of training of its human resources. The background of study, statement of the problem, definition, significance of the study, scope of the study and definition of terms were stated. Moreover, a detailed by concern review of literature pertinent to the subject matter was discussed. The importance and need for training research methodology, source of data, location of data, method of investigation was followed by research work was discussed analysis and discussion of findings. Conclusion and recommendation were looked into with a view to ascertaining the staff training and development in the organization. The study was carried out through personal interview with the help of questionnaires. The study made a lot of findings about the subject matter which includes the fact that training is a regular activity, in the organization, it was also established that training enhances job performance as well as workers morals. On completion of the study, it was recommended that the organization should make use of qualified and experienced trainers for its internal training and enable majority of its employees to benefit from the program. It was also recommended that the employees should be given adequate opportunity to practice what they have learnt during training and as well given due and timely promotion and advancement.
